Senior Editor (Feature Content), Haymarket Medical Network

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Senior Editor to join the SEO/Editorial team. This position is located in our New York City office with two days on-site and three remote, but fully remote candidates with superior skills will be considered.

 

Job Overview:

Skilled editor responsible for overseeing the creation of an ongoing inventory of feature content to meet audience informational and educational needs, as well as drive traffic for a suite of 20+ clinical websites to reach a target audience of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants/associates, pharmacists, and patients across numerous clinical specialties and therapeutic categories. (cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, nephrology, neurology, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Create tiered approach to topic ideation (high-level through discretionary topics) to inform an editorial calendar
  • Create timeline from concept ideation through execution
  • Create contributor contracts as necessary (working with Contracts Administrator), to include scope of work, assignment of ownership, and compensation (among other requirements)
  • Partner with clinical advisor to recruit clinician contributors and execute contracts
  • Create and maintain ongoing vendor relationships
  • Assign topics to authors/vendors based on specialty/proficiency
  • Following article submission, fact check and edit (or assign to freelance editor) as per AMA/Haymarket style, create graphic material (if appropriate), and post in WordPress (optimized for SEO)
  • Manage project budget (including generation of purchase orders/goods receipts)
  • Partner with SEO team to ensure content is executed using marketing/SEO best practices
  • Monitor traffic to content
  • Conduct quality assurance assessment of published content to ensure functionality
  • Schedule and perform regular review of content to ensure relevancy and accuracy, with updates, as needed.

 

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Higher education degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience working at a senior editor level  in a medical communications/publishing/education environment
  • Successful at relationship building and networking
  • Excellent ability to edit and fact check medical and technical materials, and quick at execution
  • Familiarity with AMA style
  • Excellent reading comprehension, listening and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills
  • A successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
  • Project management expertise a plus
